Title: Fire Investigator Qualifications: CFI, CFEI Expertise: Fire and Explosion Investigation

Chris Wofford joined Burgoyne Incorporated in 2006 as a fire investigator in South Carolina. In addition to the investigation of origin and cause of fires, he has provided expert witness testimony as requested.
Preceding his appointment at Burgoyne, Chris earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of South Carolina. His studies included an internship with the Columbia Fire Department in the Fire Investigative Division. Chris then spent 12 years in law enforcement, 8 of those years with the Richland County Fire Marshal’s Office being dedicated to fire and explosion investigations. He has conducted investigations into environmental crimes and hazardous material incidents.
After September 11, 2001, Chris was assigned to the Richland County COBRA/WMD Advanced Team, where he led the evidence and sample collection group as Chief Science Officer. Chris continued his training via the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Department of Homeland Security, the National Fire Protection Association, and the United States Department of Justice.
Chris obtained his Certified Fire Investigator designation from the International Association of Arson Investigators; his Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator designation from the National Association of Fire Investigators; and his Certified Fire Inspector I designation from the National Fire Protection Association. In addition, Chris is a WMD instructor with the US Department of Homeland Security and a licensed Private Investigator.
